BECOME A MEMBER

A co-operative (co-op) is a different kind of business, owned by its members, working together to meet a shared need.

Why become a Member?

The Hive Co Lab offers a unique value proposition by combining the strengths of individual SMEs with the power of collective resources. Members benefit from access to shared services, reduced costs, and a supportive community that fosters growth and innovation.

  • Strength through collaboration
  • Service offering based on requirements, not availability
  • Fair access to opportunities
  • Equitable financial returns with visible charge structure
  • Mutual support
  • Optimised overheads, sharing business services
  • Facilitating relationships, being an honest broker

What makes us different?

What makes us Different? – Different classes of membership shares to assign different rights to separate interest groups:

  • There are no known co-ops in the transport infrastructure consulting industry in the UK
  • Not for profit. Money will be reinvested into our members, or the community and all members will have a say in how this is done
  • Democratically owned and controlled by its members
  • Giving something back. Serving communities, providing mental health support, training and coaching
  • Procurement, leveraging economies of scale and on behalf of SME’s who otherwise would not qualify to tender
  • Investing in future generations – apprentices / apprentice degrees etc?
  • Ethical, focussing on sustainability
  • Highly competent team, no need for investment in training
  • Members will have access to other SME member services.

The Benefits

Stronger Together

Discover the power of collaboration and community ownership by joining the Unity Cooperative. Let’s build a better future, together.

Democratic Member Control

As a member, you have a voice. Cooperatives are owned and controlled by their members, meaning you have a direct say in our direction and decisions. One member, one vote.

    Shared Profits & Benefits

Economic participation is a core principle. Profits and surpluses are reinvested in the cooperative or returned to members, ensuring the value we create benefits those who contribute to it.

    Community Focused

We are committed to the sustainable development of our community. By working together, we create stable jobs, support local economies, and build a resilient future for everyone.

    Other Members & Clients

“The right of capital is replaced by the sovereignty of collective membership. They are owned differently, governed differently, and operate differently; their risk is shared differently and the rewards are distributed differently.”
